I Touch Myself Project Is The Best PSA

There is a movement going on, and it’s a great movement.  Women are touching their breast.  How many of us touch or examine our breast?  I do; I am proud to touch my breast.  Touching your breast can save your life.  Earlier today I read an article in the Huffington Post about Divinyls front woman Chrissy Amphlett who died April, 2013 from breast cancer.  Amphlett discovered her cancer through self-examination after mammograms and ultrasounds failed to detect her cancer. Her cancer was terminal, and she left us with a Cancer Awareness anthem I Touch Myself.

“Australian advocacy group Cancer Council New South Wales collaborated with a group of Australian singers, including breast cancer survivor Olivia Newton-John, to produce a powerful a cappella version of the song that serves as a PSA for self-examination”, according to the Huffington Post.  Check out the powerful video I Touch Myself Project.

The organization is encouraging women to take pictures of themselves touching their breast and #itouchmyselfie, posting the pictures on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook to generate awareness.

In 2008, I touched myself and discovered a lump beneath the fold of my right breast; I was at stage 1 breast cancer. My treatment was a lumpectomy and radiation. Touch yourself daily, know that each time you touch your breast you love yourself more.
