Loving the Apples

Apples are one of my favorite fruits to juice. I love this detoxifying fruit! There are many varieties of apples packed with soluble fiber, minerals and the nutrients our bodies need.  An apple a day helps to keep the doctor away, an old familiar saying. Well, there is much truth to the saying so long as you are eating and drinking organic apples.  Conventional apples, non-organic, top the Dirty Dozen List of having the most pesticides according to the Environmental Working Group (EWG).

I cannot stress the importance of eating organic fruits and vegetables.  If your budget does not dictate the expense of organic produce then buy organic produced listed on the Environmental Working Group's Dirty Dozen list.  The list will help you in minimizing toxic intake for you and your family.

Some people prefer to peel the skin to eat an apple.  My advice is to never peel the apple.  The apple peel has a high amount of vitamin A, needed for healthy skin, eyes, digestive tract and immune system.  Nearly every day I drink organic apple juice in my juices. The nutrients within the apple help to boost my immune system to fight off intestinal infections, colds and flu.  Due to the high mineral content fresh raw juice is good for enhancing the health of your  skin, hair and fingernails.  Well, my nails are different!  We all have our weaknesses, but I must confess, sometimes I do nibble on my nails when I am in deep concentration.  So, don’t judge me on my nails, please.  When I focus, I chew, hmmm!

Getting back to the apple, this is what I've learned; apple consumption reduces cancer, heart disease and asthma.  Apples have a high content of flavonoids and pectin to lower cholesterol and “improves the intestinal muscles ability to push waste through the gastrointestinal tract" according to The Encyclopedia of Healing Foods.  Pectin is a soluble fiber helping to move the bowels.  When fruit has a high amount of pectin it stimulates the intestines to move toxic and fecal out while enforcing and regulating the bowels.  For all you people who have problems with constipation, apples are a natural healer and reliever of the discomforts. The wonder of  apple is the removal of  un-friendly colonic bacteria and parasites while aiding the digestive system.

Here is a list of  vitamins your body will receive when you juice unpeeled organic apple juice: Vitamins A, B1, B6, C, biotin, minerals e.g. chloride, copper, iron, magnesium, manganese, phosphorus, potassium, silicon, sodium and sulfur.   Enjoy!
